SciBarCamp
Tomorrow I’m driving to Toronto to participate in the first-ever SciBarCamp, which is basically a science barcamp (user-generated conference/unconference).
On Friday evening, we’ll brainstorm session ideas for the weekend. I expect the sessions will be more conversational than at a typical confernce, which is what I prefer. If I lead a session, it will probably be about how virtual worlds are being used by and for the sciences.
The current list of participants has 123 names and I don’t know most of them, which is great! They’re not all scientists either. I look forward to discussing new ideas and projects (where ‘new’ means new to me). Others will probably liveblog the conference but I’ll probably make notes in my (paper) notebook and share those here once I get back.
