Reasoning by Anecdote

Here’s an example of how reasoning by anecdote can go awry:

“My uncle loved bananas; he ate them every day. Then he was knocked dead by a meteor. When that happened, I stopped eating bananas and I’ve never been hit by a meteor. Avoid bananas!”
